North of Morocco tour

Day 1: Tangier
Arrive at the port of Tangier where you will be assisted with customs formalities and transferred from the port to your hotel where you will be given time to settle in and freshen up. Later you will take a tour of Tangier, the meeting point of Mediterranean cultures for more than 2,000 years, Visit the Modern New town, a beautiful drive through rich area of Tangier's California section where you'll see the estate, villas, palaces and passing via the king's Summer Palace and celebrities’ homes. Visit the Old American Legation, a former palace given to the U.S. government in 1777 to house America’s first embassy. Stop at Cap Spartel, the lighthouse that marks the official convergence of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Later on we drive to Hercules Cave – continually inhabited since the Neolithic period. Then we begin our tour of the old town. Visit the Kasbah (fortified area). Descend through the labyrinthine roads of the medina through the spice markets. Visit the Grand Socco and St. Andrew’s Church, quietly nestled off the busy market square. Overnight

Day 2: Tangier ▬ Tetouan ▬ Chefchaouen
After breakfast, departure to Chefchaouen via Tetouan ‘the white pigeon’ city known as home to the Jews who were expelled from Spain after the expulsion of the Arabs in 1492. The city is the centre of Andalusian Morocco, explore the charming ‘white’ city of Tetouan, affectionately called ‘the daughter of Granada’ by the locals. Visit the Guersa Kebira square, one of the many bustling souks, and then we stop at the Medina, one of the most fascinating in the country and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a unique network of shaded alleyways and has several mosques. See also the superb Royal Palace, a fine example of Hispano- Moresque architecture. Continue to Chefchaouen known as the “blue” city picturesque Berber stronghold in the high up Rif Mountains, was founded in 1471 by Moorish exiles from Spain. Its blue-glazed houses and buildings are a tradition that comes from the town's former Jewish population. Chefchaouen, a haven of peace and tranquility. The main square is the heart of Chefchaouen, with the Kasbah (built back in the 18th century), central mosque and cafes with authentic menus. Overnight

Day 3: Chefchaouen ▬ Volubilis ▬ Meknes ▬ Fez
After breakfast, Travelling through Morocco’s Rif Mountains to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You will spend the morning exploring the 2000-year-old ruins and getting a picture of life during the Roman Empire. After lunch continue to the UNESCO designated world heritage 17th century imperial city of Meknes. In the old Meknes medina you will see Bab el Mansour the famous massive gate of all North Africa, the main entrance to the second Alaouite sultan, Moulay Ismail’s 17th century city and the Agdal Basin, and then you will head off to Fes, the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco. Overnight

Day 4: Fez City Tour
Discover Fez, one of the largest medieval cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the ‘Attarin Madrasa, founded in 1310-31, one of the finest Merinid monuments, Batha Museum (a palace built in the 19th century), Moulay Idriss mausoleum, al-Qissa gate (restored by the Merinid Sultan Abu Youssef Yaqub in the 13th century and rebuilt after the 1735 earthquake), mosque and madrasa (built by the Alaouite Sultan Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdullah in 1757-90). Continue to Qarawiyyin Mosque (founded in 857 by Fatima al-Fihri, a fine example of Andalusian architectonic and decorative influences during the Almoravid period) and Library, Sharratin Mosque, Andalusian Mosque, built to celebrate the Andalusian group invited by Idriss II to live in the newly founded Fez in 1808, Shawara Tanneries, Stawniyine Funduq, similar in its plan to Nasrid funduqs in Granada, built in the 14th century, Najjarin Square and Bou Inanya Madrasa. Visit the centres of the ancient Jewish community of Fez: the Synagogue museum, Mellah (the Jewish quarter built by the Merenids in the 15th century). Overnight

Day 5: Fez ▬ Beni-Mellal ▬ Marrakech
Departure to Marrakech passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Berber villages of Imouzzer du Kandar, Ifran and Azrou. Free time for optional lunch break and a moment of relaxation in Beni Mellal city one of the agricultural centers of Morocco. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Overnight

Day 6: Marrakech City Tour
After breakfast, we will start our full day tour to discover the multiple facets of Marrakech with a stroll in the labyrinth of the narrow streets of the Medina amongst its famous Souks. Immerse yourself with visits to the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Marrakech including Bahia Palace Built in the late 19th century. We will also visit the Saadian tombs, only recently discovered in 1917 and restored and the historical koutoubia tour the land mark’s city. Witness the astonishing spectacle of Djemaa El Fna Square, used equally by locals and tourists where you will find juice stalls, water sellers and snake charmers by day and dancing boys, storytellers and magicians by night. As darkness descends, the square fills with food stalls. Overnight

Day 7: Marrakech
Day at leisure, enjoy it on your own Optional: Excursions / cooking class / spa & hammam.

Day 8: Marrakech ▬ Casablanca ▬ Rabat
After your morning breakfast, we leave Marrakech and head out towards Rabat via Casablanca. You will Begin your discovery of the economic capital of Morocco. An orientation tour will take us to the outside of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the second largest Mosque in the world, visit the United Nations square and the Mohamed V square then we proceed to see the luxury residential area of Anfa and the seaside with its swimming pools and restaurants. Optional lunch then we continue to Rabat the capital of the country, we will start our walking around the entrance to the Royal Palace with its massive doors, well decorated buildings and lovely gardens. Next to the palace, you will see the impressive Mohammed V Mausoleum: the burial ground of the two late Alaouite kings - Mohammed V and Hassan II. In the same area, you will find the Tour, the landmark of Rabat and one of the oldest Mosques ever and visit the Oudaya Kasbah with its stunning Andalusian garden overlooking the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. Overnight

Day 9: Rabat ▬ Tangier
